Yngve Ekström (1913-1988) was an architect, woodworker, and furniture designer from Hagafors, Småland, in Southern Sweden. At the age of thirteen, following the death of his father, Ekström began working in the country’s oldest furniture factory, Hagafors Chair Factory.

Yngve Ekström (1913–1988) was a Swedish architect, designer and co-founder of the furniture brand Swedese. His best-known design is the Lamino chair designed for Swedese in 1956. In addition to his own company, Ekström designed furniture for Stolab and other Swedish manufacturers.

When a Swedish interior magazine asked its readers to vote for “one piece of furniture of the 20th century” they chose the easy chair Lamino, designed by Swe­dese’s founder Yngve Ekström. Yngve och hans bror Jerker startade 1945 möbelföretaget “ESE-möbler” (numera Swedese möbler). Yngve fick sitt genombrott 1953 i en modellpristävlan där han vann första pris. Därefter deltog han på flera utställningar. Tillsammans med sin bror Jerker startade Yngve Ekström under 1960-talet en lampfabrik, Lystella AB. Yngve Ekström vann 2 första pris i Hemslöjdsförbundets modellpristävlan 1953. Han framträdde samma år som formgivare med en utställning arrangerad av Lena Larsson på NK bo.
